The anti Candida diet can be confusing and testing.

When most start the diet they are keen to make a positive change to their health but when they look at how little they are allowed to eat they revert to least path of resistance.
But it is not like the allowed foods are even the same for everyone – no. In some versions you are allowed whole grains, tomatoes and cottage cheese right from day one, in other programs you are not allowed any carbohydrates, nightshade fruits or dairy at all – so what gives?
Hence there is no defined 'Anti Candida Diet'. The only thing we can do is to remove the foods that the Candida fungus thrives on from our diet.

You could take it one step further as some programs do promote and remove all foods that you may be sensitive to - so if you are willing to go that far, the chances of your success are greatly improved.

Tip 1 - Part one of an anti Candida diet
Part One is the first two to four weeks of the diet and is pretty tough to get through. All foods that contain dairy, mold, sugar, carbohydrates, gluten, preservatives, wheat and starches need to be removed from our diet.
To put it simply – all you are allowed are leafy green vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, celery, cucumber, zucchini, silverbeet, peppers, chicken, fish, omega oils, nuts and seeds.
Tip 2 - Foods that plans disagree on for an anti Candida dietNow here’s where it gets confusing – some plans go on to say that you can also eat cottage cheese, natural yogurt, lean red meat, whole-grains and low sugar fruits like pineapple, papaya, pear, berries and rhubarb.
The best advice that I can give here is to do your best to leave out everything, but I really don't think that having small amounts of any of these will affect the end result.

Tip 3 – Start a food diary
Supplements are a big factor in an anti Candida diet and the timing of these is critical to their efficiency. Keeping track of them as well as any foods that you have introduced and your reaction to them can often be a nightmare, so keeping a food diary is a great idea here.

Tip 4 – Introducing foods
Start with really simple, easily digested foods – whole-grains, low sugar fruit, carrots, peas etc.

Tip 5 – Anti Candida Diet Cravings
Food cravings are caused by many factors - emotional issues, mineral levels, blood sugar levels and hormones just to name a few. Often a sugar craving can be caused by Candida.

The best idea here is to question all cravings and ask yourself whether they really are a need or a ‘want’. If you decided that it is a ‘need’ then still wait 5 minutes before eating it – this usually works – believe me!
