My husband and I have received some happy news. Our daughter is getting married. We feel happy and sad. Happy she’s moving on with her life and will one day start her own family, but sad in that we are losing her. Our family isn’t large and neither is the bridegroom’s so we decided to celebrate the evening’s reception at our house, using the dining room.
That decided, we knew there was a lot to plan in the following months, especially preparing the house. After over thirty years of living here it does admittedly require a complete refurbishment and redecoration. Just as well my hubby is a keen DIY man. Each room needed to be de-cluttered, then refurnished and decorated in just under six months. What a challenge!
The months came and went, however my husband stuck to his DIY tasks. When one room was finished we bought new furniture, beginning with the bedrooms. We bought new beds, wardrobes and dressing tables. The dining room was refurbished last, it suited me as I consider this the most important room in the house, where the family spends time together. Our dining room is extremely large and light.

There are contemporary styles, casual, traditional and modern, many in different colours such as black, brown, cherry and oak. They are manufactured using a variety of materials, glass, metal, steel, wood and more.
Apparently today it’s quite modern to mix and match furniture; however it doesn’t suit my taste. I hope to buy a contemporary china cabinet to finish off our dining room and help display my collection of beautiful Chinese ornaments. I wanted one made from oak that also had plenty of storage space.

It has natural tones and superb graining making it an eye-catching piece. The dining table set has transformed our dining room. It compliments the décor and style of the room superbly. The evening celebration soon arrived, I was proud as punch when my gorgeous daughter and handsome son-in-law came to our house, accompanied by family and friends.
