Lighting whether it is indoors or outdoors or for commercial purposes or for landscaping always manages to leave an indelible impression in our psyche, whenever we see lights we feel comfortable perhaps because it is a sign that people are around. Watching beautiful lights illuminating the dark is a welcome sight. Lights have a comforting effect whether it is indoor lights or outdoor lighting.
If you love entertaining and frequently call guests for parties whether it is indoors or outdoors, lighting makes them feel welcome. A well lighted house is a sign of festivities. Use suitable lights for the living room, the study, kitchen, passage, bathroom and the bedroom. None of these should be neglected as a well lit house spells comfort.
People no longer prefer the traditional lighting options that need to be changed every year and consume huge amounts of electricity where lighting up the house means huge electricity bills. People now prefer options that save electricity that means they are cost effective, last longer and are environment friendly so a total win-win formula. CFL bulbs and LED lights are two options that are being increasingly preferred by people.
Having a plan before you start to redecorate your house with lights is essential. A definite plan allows you not just to calculate the costs involved but also to visualize the look you want for your house. A false ceiling in the living room is quite trendy and if you make use of tiny CFL bulbs to light up the surface the room will resemble a brightly lit hotel. You could get a chandelier fitted in the centre and use the lights as per your taste for a diffused light effect.
The walls of the living room could be adorned with a painting, a mural or even a wall rug. Some interesting masks would also make a great conversation piece.
Moving to the kitchen it should not be neglected and this is not a place for muted lights, the kitchen top should be brightly lit so also the oven.
For the bedroom and bathroom passage use of recessed lights seems to be a perfect option as this space does not require very bright lights. Use of recessed lights for the bathroom especially the shower area and near the vanities provides much needed lights in the bathroom.
When it comes to the bedroom a muted light effect would be ideal as bedroom shouldn't be a place where you keep your study table or the computer as that would make you work the nights. Make sure this room has soothing lights as that would mentally relax you.
