I have a job that is partially office-based but also involves travelling around the UK. The office part is quite easy but the travelling takes its toll on me at times. Driving the length and breadth of the country often means that I endure delays due to road works, traffic accidents and other hold ups. At the end of a long day all I want is to find decent accommodation to have a good night’s sleep.
To me, cities in the UK can be the most difficult places to find hotel accommodation. The last thing I want to do at the end of a hard day’s work is to be searching for somewhere to rest. Planning ahead for hotel accommodation is not always easy, my work schedule constantly changes and sometimes my daily locations can change too.
This happened to me the other day, my planned meeting was changed which meant I had to quickly rush up to Manchester. For once I got lucky. I found this fabulous hotel on the outskirts of the city which wasn’t too far away from the city centre itself. A great location for me and only a thirty minute drive for the next day. Generally I have found that hotels on the outskirts of cities are usually much quieter than city centre accommodation.
The hotel ticked all the right boxes. An array of up-to-date amenities and facilities including Wi-Fi, which in my line of work is absolutely necessary, were on offer. What a fabulous restaurant too, really perfect for business people who have to endure a lot of travelling by road.
My room was spacious, light and very comfortable. It had everything I needed, en suite bathroom, a nice bed, room service and an early morning wake up call facility. The latter was extremely useful especially as I had a meeting to attend beginning at 10.00 a.m. the next morning. Thankfully I had a sound night’s sleep, woke up refreshed and was looking forward to a hearty breakfast.
In my experience, enjoying a fulfilling English breakfast is a joy to behold. It sets anyone up for the working day, ready to tackle the many tasks ahead. The previous night my evening meal was extremely tasty and the breakfast was just as good. The hotel was a hive of activity, clients coming and going. The staff was extremely attentive to their guests and very hard-working.
The journey to my business meeting didn’t take too long, even during rush hour traffic. It only took just over half an hour to reach my destination. The meeting itself was a resounding success. I achieved everything I had hoped for.
I can thoroughly recommend hotels that are situated in the outskirts of large cities, such as Manchester. This particular hotel suited my needs perfectly and I would definitely reserve a room again if I am in the region.
