I am either really beneficial or lucky, or both, or I have just done too many cigar reviews

Last week, I received this short cigar review with the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero 660 from Lt. Col. Mitch Fadem, who is currently deployed in Afghanistan. For all people who appreciate reading Dr. Fadem's specific cigar reviews, here's an additional 1 just for you:

I smoked a cigar tonight that I haven't tried to smoke due to the fact March 2007. The reason I remember it's as it was given to me ahead of I deployed the last time. The cigar review will be the LFD Double Ligero 660 from La Flor Dominicana. One more reason I remember it is because it was the strongest cigar I had ever attempted to smoke. I said attempted, not finished. I could not even smoke it more than 5 minutes ahead of I just had to put it down. It was way too bold and full bodied for my palate at that time. Now? Because then, I have smoked Camacho Triple Maduro and recently the Cain Fuerte, a triple ligero. So, this evening once I was given the LFC Double Ligero 660, I was a tiny hesitant.

To my surprise once I got past that first 1/4 inch from the cigar it settled to a very smooth yet quite full bodied stick. It is after all a 54x4.5" stogie and smoked slow and cool right down towards last inch. The ash held for 1 hour and I was only half way through the cigar forum. The taste was incredibly nutty and rich and did not change. If there was any change, it got smoother at the mid-point. The total smoking time was A single hour and 45 minutes, and for a short fat cigar, that was very good along with being a beneficial value at around $6.50 each. This one was a gift, but it may possibly have smoked just as well as the Cain's that are nonetheless sitting in my humidor now for over 3 months. I have to smoke a Cain Fuerte tomorrow just to determine the difference.

This just goes to show you how your palate can adjust more than time. In fact, the cigar was so nutty that I had a taste for eating nuts after I finished, and went back to my 8x18 box (that is my room or cabin or whatever you would like call the location we sleep close to here) and ate some mixed nuts, unsalted. After consuming the nuts, I decided that the taste with the cigar was a combination of walnuts and almonds using a hint of sour cherries. Okay that may be my mini-review for tonight.

Oh, one more thing. I very impressed the guy that gave me the cigar and his cigar smoking buddies, whom I did not know. One of them lit up a cigar across from me. The light was poor, simply because we have been within the Destille Garden at night and there just are not as well quite a few lights, so I could not see the band on a cigar. But I could see the shape, and the aroma once he first lit it was incredibly distinctive. The friend that gave me my LFD 660 told the rest in the group how I was a true aficionado, and they said "prove it". So, I looked at the guy across from me that just lit his cigar and said, "You are smoking a La Gloria Cubana Serie R.". Of course I was right, and no 1 could feel that I knew just during the shape and aroma. I am either really good or lucky, or both, or I have just smoked as well several cigars.
