Chakan’s flexible production process facilitates to produce other models of Mercedes cars in the same assembling sector with its well planned assembly line. E-Class is the best selling model of Benz and in the end of 1996, it sold nearly 14 thousand cars in India and it is still making success stories in automobile industry. Instantaneously, Mercedes is going to commence its two shift manufacturing process in Chakan. In the first quarter of 2009, this company had crossed its first shift capacity within 2 years. To answer the the increasing demand in India it was planning to start its two shift production process. Without doubt, Benz car buyers would welcome this effort by this auto company and Mercedes-Benz has the support of domestic and international buyers since it started business in India.
Due to the massive response from its customers for its products, Mercedes-Benz has plans to set up its own paint shop with world-class technologies and with a total estimated cost of Rs.600 crores. It has decided to start functions of this unit by the third quarter of 2012 and it expects to have the capacity of 20,000 units per annum. This vehicle company has some plans to increase this quantity to 40,000 units in forth coming years.
In 2008, Mercedes-Benz has produced nearly 20,000 automobiles in India in 13 years of its operation in India. Its target to produce 30,000 units was achieved within 3 years. In the Luxury car Segment this car company has recorded 86% growth in the first three-quarters of 2010. Due to this tremendous development this company also have plans to launch more products in India immediately after launching them in other international markets. In the starting of the year 2013, it has plans to manufacture more luxury cars in its Indian production unit other than S, E and C classes of models.
