Search engine optimization, also known as SEO, is a process of getting an internet page noticed when people type in keys words using a website like Google or Yahoo. As a general rule, if the key words are closer to the top of the page, it will appear more often in the results. The more men and women who visit an internet site, the more likely the owner is to have more costumers. A site owner might also have a web site for political reasons and want the visitors to come to his or her page in hopes of converting them to or from an idea. Whatever the reason, people who have web sites generally want lots of people to visit them.

Men and women have informative articles on web pages to give details about a product or service and to get seekers to find their web sites. For example, if a person is selling supplies for emus, the person might start by collecting and writing lots of articles that would be useful for, or interesting to farmers with emus. PPC appear at the top, often in their own box, because the advertisers pay to have them at the top. Some searches began to see the top results as just ads that may not even contain the information they are seeking. That is why site owners usually want to do well with organic searches.
