Drawing horses as much as she loved riding them was what a female artist loved when she was a child. Leading her to a career painting horses and other subjects of the natural world is her early training combined with her many years of experience as an artist. Horses, hens, reindeer and especially dogs can be seen in her pastel and watercolor paintings.

At the time when her family moved to the present county from Philadelphia, she was 11. Her sister and mother painted as a hobby just like her father who was a commercial artist. When it comes to drawing, her father says that this is real important to an artist. These are evident details in the structure of the animals she paints.

What she loves to paint are animals and she expanded this to painting dogs and cats. With the artist and her husband in their present home are two dogs and a cat. Painting pets for private commissions is something she also does.

May it be the bright white of daylight to the darker amber hues of evening, light distinctly stands out in her paintings. Considering her paintings, she cares a lot about having a sense of light. It is because of this that she uses watercolor. Watercolor going over paper is for her a series of transparent washes that does so. A white piece of paper glows through the paint. When it comes to oil paint, you create light in a different manner. What depends on everything around it being painted is light being revealed.

It is necessary for artists to paint around the white when using watercolor. The process that follows the use of oil is painting in the dark shadows and then adding the light. When it comes to the luminosity in oil paintings, this is the challenge the artist wants to deal with. Having some time painting in oil is what she would like considering how she loves the impressionists.

It is her move from the former town to the present location at the countryside that serves as her inspiration today. What she does is explore the back roads where she takes pictures of old farmhouses and landscapes in the foothills. Oftentimes, she is concerned when the old farmhouses get torn down. She feels almost an urgency to paint some of these old houses to acknowledge them and hopefully protect them. It is the historic architecture which she loves.

When it comes to this artist, she is also passionate about still life paintings. What she subtly uses are texture and detail rather than painting using realism or a photographic style. As much as focusing on the detail, her paintings of pets also focus on the animal's facial expressions. Where she went to other than a known school of art is the Maryland institute college of art in Baltimore. What she did for much of her career was work as a nurse but she began painting professionally since age 25. As the years passed, she established her painting reputation in the areas of architectural subjects, florals, portraits, and pets. Once a week, she works as a nurse.
