Construct a playhouse and encourage your children to spend time playing outside. Are you concerned that your kids do not play outdoors like little ones would once? Do you remember playing outside with your friends, soft ball, hide and seek, a playhouse or fort? Now that kids spend all their time playing Wii or watching limitless hours of television, they don't get exercise the way youngsters used to and to speak bluntly, they are getting fat.
Why don't you erect a playhouse for your kids? Better still, make it a family venture and get them involved. Let your children to help pick the blueprints. Do they want it it be a playhouse or a fort? What sort of trim and accessories should it have? Would they like it to have a swing? A slide? What colors do they want?
Once you have the blueprints picked out, let your kids help with the building so far as they are capable. Perhaps a six-year-old is able to only hand you a few nails before losing interest, however when that kid gets older, they'll recall how they assisted Daddy assemble the playhouse. Some children can hammer nails and with supervision, cut wood. Any one can paint, kind of. Don't neglect to take pictures.
And once it is finished, the true magic comes about. The children will really play outdoors. The playhouse becomes a mansion, a pirate ship, a frontier fort or even a submarine. Other kids will come to play at your home. Now can be a good time to get your children in to the habit of having their friends over. You'll be glad to know who their close friends are when they get to be teenagers.
Do not delay. Youngsters have a habit of getting bigger before you realize it. Even if you don't have much in the way of building skills, it is possible to construct a playhouse you will be proud and your girls and boys will treasure.
