If you love the ocean and it fits in your color scheme, you can place sand and shells in a vase in the middle of a table. If you're going for a more romantic and elegant feel, you can place a candle centerpiece. If you're going for something more fun and colorful, you can fill a large vase with bright fruits like oranges, lemons or apples. And if you want something truly unique, you can opt for small topiaries in the center of the table. The center piece lets you showcase your personalities and bring a bit more personalization, so have fun with it!
Once you have the colors and tables all set, the rest of the decorating is easy and just catering to what you want. Most people opt to bring some of the flowers arrangements from their ceremony into the reception in some way. You can chose to do this or bring in some new floral arrangements. Some people bring in ice sculptures. Some people do nothing else and just let their cake and the lighting with the dancing bring in ambiance. After you have the basic set up and table decorations figured out, the rest is up to personal taste and budget.
But the most important thing to planning your reception is to have fun. This is your wedding reception and your day so plan to have a great time.
