Splinter Cell: Conviction is one of the best xbox 360 games. The story continues with Sam Fisher
thirsty for blood and revenge. The death of his daughter Sarah has changed Sam’s life forever and now
his only purpose is to find her murderer and to make him pay. The story is very intriguing and soon
after Fischer is on track to find the killer, he finds himself wrapped in a big conspiracy. A very nice
new feature is the way the mission text is displayed across the walls and objects of the levels and the
black and white flashbacks are played on some level surfaces. This feature projects Sam’s emotional
states that he passed through the entire game.
Compared to the previous Splinter Cell games, there are a few changes in Splinter Cell:
Conviction. The game is not anymore pure stealth and now it’s a more approachable action game. Sam
Fisher can still hide from enemies in the shadows, but some features of the previous Splinter Cell
games are not there anymore. You can’t move and hide the bodies, you can’t pick door locks and the
only violent solution regarding to the enemies is to kill them, because it’s not possible to knock them
out anymore. The action is now more violent and intense than ever.
The game scores at variety, the levels are well designed and very colorful, so the player will never
get bored playing. The campaign missions are very intriguing and well designed. The AI in this game is
very good, but sometimes the enemies are a bit slow in reaction when they are put in hard situations
like dodging a grenade, but overall the behavior of the adversaries is unpredictable and very adaptive to
the situation and this makes the game very interesting and challenging to play.
The gameplay is very flexible and the player can approach the levels in many different ways. The
weapons you earn and upgrade during the game are very nice and effective and the in high-tech
gadgets, like the sonar goggles in Sam’s inventory are very helpful in some situations. The difficulty of
the game is lower than it used to be in the series, but this is not a bad thing because now the game is
friendlier even for the players who are not very familiarized with this type of stealth action games. The
overall length of the game campaign is about six or seven hours, but what you get is one of the best
actions you ever saw on xbox 360.
The single player campaign is very good, but the multiplayer is even better and you can play it on
Xbox live, split screen or system link. The player can coordinate attacks and has the ability to do dual
executions. The co-op campaign has a story that involves a Third Echelon agent and his Russian
counterpart. The action is very exciting and now the enemies are smart enough to play dead and they
are capable of grabbing you and use you as a human shield till your team mate comes in rescue. The
two player modes are enjoyable as well, because you and your partner have to get across a map filled
with a lot of patrolling guardians. The Hunter mode and the Face-off mode are also nice multiplayer
challenges.
Overall, Splinter Cell: Conviction on xbox 360 platform is one of the best games on xbox. The
multiplayer action is extraordinary, making this game very enjoyable, alongside with the superb story
and single player campaign that make this game very appreciated among the fans of the series, gamers
and not only.
