With summer quickly approaching, everyone is looking for some type of head cover, including parents. There are many types of head coverings to choose from; however the popular choice for everyone is kid’s baseball caps. Parents can be very creative in decorating baseball caps for children. Parents can make a project out the decoration process or even purchase one that is already decorated for their child. This article addresses some of the ideas that are available to decorate kid’s baseball caps.
Kids love to show off their master pieces. What better way to do so a head covering made with their little hands. Depending on the age of the child, parents can help their child decorate their baseball cap with anything from dye, buttons, collectables, etc. Each baseball cap that they make can be made to match any outfit that they have as well. They can personalize their designs with a special touch that makes their baseball cap theirs.
Kids love markers and crayons. What kid doesn’t? One really nice and fun way to decorate their hat is by handprints. Parents can help with this project by purchasing some paint that is permanent and will not wash out in the washing machine. Once you decide on the color of paint to use, place down some newspaper first because it may lead to a big mess in the end. Take a paint brush and coat the inside of the child’s hand with a color of paint. Be creative and make it multi colored! Once the hand is coated have the child place handprints all over the baseball cap. You can even paint each hand a separate color so that you can have a choice of two colors to work with before cleaning off the hands and starting all over again with two different colors. Let the hat dry before wearing.
Another fun way to spice up the kid’s baseball cap is by sewing things on it that children have collected. From buttons to scraps of material, each can be sewn on the hat to decorate their baseball hat in another creative way. Depending on the child’s age, parents will want to take safety into consideration when choosing their collectables to sewn onto the hat. You do not want a fun filled day to end in disaster with a child swallowing one of the collectables.
If you do not want to sew or paint things on your child’s baseball cap, there are other ways that you could create a hat for them that they will be proud to wear. Purchasing plain white baseball caps prior to going to a baseball game, or basketball game, or even a soccer or hockey game, allows the child to collect autographs from their favorite players! By attending the event with their baseball cap on their head and pen in hand, they will for sure have a finished product that they will want to wear for years to come. Even when the child out grows the hat, they finally have a memorable item for their keepsake.
