With the popularity of the Atkins diet and South Beach, more people are becoming carb conscious. People with weight problems often blame it on eating too many carbohydrates. The truth is that not all carbs are bad. There are good carbs, as well. Athletes load on carbohydrates before an event for a reason. This is because the good carbs are a great source of energy. The trick to eating well is not to cut out all carbs (doing that is very unhealthy no matter what is written in those Atkins books). It is to eat a low carb diet-a low carb diet that only includes the good carbs. The following tips will help you do just that.

Are you addicted to pasta? Can you taste that big bowl of buttery noodles waiting for you on a cold evening? You can't resist that thick, hearty robust sauce over your noodles can you? Going low carb doesn't mean you have to get rid of the pasta. Tis true pasta used to be completely flour based. This isn't true anymore there are many stores that carry vegetable based noodles. Veggie pastas come in all of the same varieties as flour based ones. You can get pastas made from kale, seaweed, squash, zucchini and plain vegetables.

Instead of using rice, use grated cauliflower instead. Cauliflower is low carb food that works well.

It is also quite good for you. Another bonus to cauliflower, it cooks more quickly than rice. Cooking rice dishes this way allows you to prepare them in a fraction of the time. Using cauliflower is healthier than using rise and it is an easy substitution. You can use grated cauliflower in most recipes that call for rice. About 95% of recipes that call for rice can be made with cauliflower instead.

All healthy diets need to have whole grains. This is really true when it comes to low carb diets. Whole grains do not have as many carbs and will make it easier for you to handle things like craving bread. Bread and pasta are great foods and, if they are made with whole grains, they are very helpful. Whole grains have a lot of nutrients that your body requires and can be good when added to a low car diet. The only thing that you must do is watch the number of calories that you eat. Just because an item has whole grains in it, does not make it low carb. there are many ways for you to accomplish a low carb diet. Don't stop altogether. One reason for this is that you need the energy from the carbs you do eat. Just find natural ways to eat low carb. You are simply reducing not eliminating your carbs. You're just finding things that you like more and that keep you healthy.
