Being a parent is more difficult than it seems. Although you might be tempted to believe that your toddler needs to be spoiled all the time, you should rather pay attention to his behavior. The way he acts now reflects his personality; your role is to help him understand what is right and what is wrong. Here are some parenting tips that you might find useful:

Your toddler is crying and nothing seems to be good enough for him. Let's see what happens in his mind! At the age of 2, your baby tries to control the world around him, including you. This is his way of saying: 'I exist and I have rights!' The child is starting to notice that he is different from others and thus he searches for an identity of his own.

Stop telling him 'No!' or 'Don't touch!' all the time. The best is to express exactly what you feel in those moments. Say him: 'The way you act makes me suffer'. A simple: "I see you're angry. I know that you suffer and I'm sorry" will show your toddler that you understand him. Don't think about how to punish him when he does something wrong. Like most toddlers, he'll learn by the age of four to be much better controlled.

Have trouble getting your toddler to sleep each night? Well, most parents do. Keep his room quiet and dark in the mornings and create a consistent, calming bedtime ritual. Although each child has a different biorhythm, some techniques proved to be effective. Turn off all the lights and encourage your toddler to fall asleep. Tell him that he shouldn't be afraid of dark. Also, it's very important not to use the child's bed for playing during the day.

Some children are shy and feel more insecure than others. This usually happens around the age of 6-7. To help your child trust himself, encourage him to start practicing a sport. Playing sport will help him improve his self confidence through learning skills and success, make friends, do better at school work and learn about rules and fair play. Support your child emotionally. To make progresses, he needs to feel encouraged and valued.

Play enhances every domain of a child's development. Children who are encouraged to play games have better results at school and process information faster. They practice and develop language skills during play. Outdoor play is also important and helps children develop many physical skills. Learn your child new games and show him how to play with his toys. When playing, he develops interpersonal and social skills which will help him communicate better.

For the harmonious development and growth of the child, parents must be calm, loving and available. Children are different. They do not have the same temperament, or the same tastes, and their development is not equal in all areas. Therefore, parents should not too proud or too anxious if the development of their child at a certain age is different from that described by experts.

Children are educated by identifying with and imitating their parents; they reflect back to us everything we say and do. The more children are out in the world, the more models they will be exposed to. Therefore, it is essential to be a good model for your child. Respect him and he will respect you. Be next to him and he will support you. Learn to be his friend and he will share you his deepest thoughts.
