The 80’s were definitely a great time out there. Today the dance moves of that era are making a come back. There are several reasons for this occurring. First, there is the death of Michael Jackson. He is a legend from that period of time and many people want to find out as much about him as possible.
Among his accomplishments are some very good dance moves. He is the creator of the moonwalk. He also have the robotic moves down to a science in several of his music videos. It is no wonder people are looking to copy his style. When you try to imitate those moves, you will quickly see that they take time to master. Jackson certainly knew how to make them look very easy!
Footloose staring Kevin Bacon was a great movie in the 1980’s. The story covers a small town where music and dancing aren’t allowed. However, a new teenager in the area as well as the daughter of a Preacher do what they can to change that. This movie is being remade and will be released in 2010. The leading role will be covered by Zack Effron who has quite a following after his hit High School Musical saga.
Every where you look there seems to be the return of many rock and roll bands too. Of course many of them from the 1980’s never really went away. They include Kiss, AC DC, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, and Poison to name a few of them. All of these bands have recently been on tour, fueling the return of 80’s dance moves.
Schools go through trends as well it seems, and one that is common right now is an 80’s dance. These types of dances involve lots of movement with the feet as well as with the head. There is lots of freedom involved with this type of music which is why it is so appealing. You don’t have to memorize particular steps or movements in order to take part in them.
Don’t worry though because if you like slow dances the 80’s have plenty of ballads to offer as well. In fact, it seems that every great rock and roll band from the 80’s had at least one hit with a ballad.
You can brush up on some of your 80’s dance moves though. Break dancing was in that era even though it continued on through the 90’s. If you aren’t sure you want to go back to that, why not consider the worm? This is one that requires some practice to get the middle of the body up again and inching forward.
The robot is one many people love due to the fact that you get to mimic a mannequin with your own body. It is fun to practice this dance move in front of a mirror so you can make sure you have that stiff look going strong for you. For heavier 80’s music there is the chance to do slam dancing. This is a very dangerous type of dancing though so be warned – someone almost always gets hurt.
A more active 80’s dance that is less risky is the running man. It basically consists of moving fast like you are running in place. While you may look silly doing it, you can’t help but smile when you are a part of the action.
If you fondly remember the 80’s you will be happy to learn that this type of dancing is making its way back out there. You may be a bit rusty but once you get on the dance floor you will find your rhythm once again. Perhaps you have some of those old clothes that you can wear to complete the look as well!
