We all have the same bad habit of procrastinating now and then. For most of us a small bit of this won't hurt anything. For others, it can spell the difference between whether any work gets done in a day or not. Does this describe you?, Then you likely just need a bit of help developing a time management plan. Luckily, time management is a skill that anybody can develop. You simply cannot allow yourself the luxury of getting distracted. Increase your productivity and focus with these helpful tips.

Take care of the most urgent tasks of the day first. Otherwise, these tasks will be hovering over you while you do less important things. It's also a good idea to begin with whatever's most urgent so that you're sure to complete these tasks. Very often, things take longer than you think, and if it's something crucial, you want to do it right and take all the time you need with it. Time management has a lot to do with setting priorities. Make a list of activities in order of their importance, and work on it top to bottom. If your work allows for it, build your schedule around the internal clock that regulates your body. Certain people are more efficient and energetic at night. Many other people are just the opposite, and work best in the morning. Then there are those who reach their peak sometime in the middle of the day.

Pay attention to your rhythms and play to those strengths. When you have to do something that requires sustained effort or creativity, try to do it when you have the most energy. You are better off conforming to your own innate rhythms. You'll be surprised how much more you get done!

Make yourself a schedule to go by. You do not need to schedule yourself down to the second or even the minute. It is a fact that you need breaks and this means scheduling that time into your day too. Looking at a schedule like this can help you see just when you need to move to the next task and how soon till your next break. Your stress levels will be greater with a detailed schedule. Time scheduled down to the minute is great. However that is a tough schedule to keep. Don't over extend yourself. It takes time to develop good time management habits. Everyone is inefficient and disorganized at times. There are so many temptations to stop what we're doing. Everyone finds that hours have slipped away from them. Just keep moving forward as much as possible. As you practice your new habits, they will become natural. You will reach the point where you are able to get more things done in less time. It will be so natural that it won't require any thought. Then you will be the one others come to for advice on time management.
