Every mundane looking space in your house can be designed into a pleasurable space to walk into by simply adding a focal point. A focal point can lift and improve a room if it is carried out the appropriate way. Here's a small number of ideas for people to read which I hope may help them on their way to creating that focal point along with creating a home that they are going to be happy to welcome friends, family and visitors in to, knowing that they have done it all by themselves.
A lovely, well decorated room can fail if it has no focal point. If you are fortunate enough to have a fireplace, cash in on it. Regardless of whether it is a mock fireplace and does not work, give it importance and character with fire irons and a pile of logs in the grate.
Outlook can often be an excellent focal point. If you have a lovely country landscape or one of the rare skyline views of the city, organize your furniture so the windows turn out to be the centre of eye interest. If you have neither fireplace or view, you will certainly have to make your own personal focal point in the room.
Choose the best suited and convenient wall, with it so the rest of your room is pulled towards it. For instance, a wonderful tapestry with antique wall lights at each side instantly draws eye interest. A settee and a group of chairs set underneath it indicate, this is the central point. The same applies to one large painting, a group of paintings, a wall of books, an enormous shelf arrangement filled with collector's items. A grand piano also makes an excellent focal point, so does a mirrored wall, a sofa with end tables and two imposing lamps, or an extended, narrow chest arrangement containing books and collectors items.
Arranging Furniture:
When grouping furniture ensure that it is possible to view the grouping from any part of your room and get as much enjoyment from it as you would a picture on the wall. This will be particularly important if you have more than one group arrangement. View it from all angles and opposite sides of the room to ensure that it looks neither muddled or disorderly.
1.Group chairs and sofa so that traffic goes around and never through the arrangement.
2.Keep chairs reasonably close together for easy conservation and to avoid shouting from across the room.
3. If you have lamps away from walls, install floor outlets to avoid tripping over lamp chords.
4.Pick out tables that are roughly the same height as sofa and chairs avoiding spills and upset lamps.
5.Strike a good balance by separating large pieces of furniture so that the room will not look too heavy at one end.
6.Remember light, slim furniture creates an optical illusion of room.
Every room needs a centre of gravity to drag it together. A hearth is the most normal one, but wall treatments, windows and furniture arrangements can be just about as eye catching.

When I say that I understand how hard it can be to carry out these tasks that I have written about in this article. I’ve carried out these tips to many painting projects over the years but at the beginning when I first started off in the painting trade there was a good deal to learn. For my training I went to an organization called Painters and Decorators London . They taught me everything that I know.
