Making sure that your tyres are in good condition and correctly inflated is one of the most important contributions you can make to road safety. And let's be honest, it's likely to save you money at the end of the day; especially if poor or faulty tyres mean you end up having to pay for your own repairs after an accident. Now, Tyresafe - one of the UK's leading tyre safety organisations - has set in motion a new road show that will highlight the challenges that the UK continues to face from defective and illegal tyres.
This new roadshow initiative to promote safer tyres for all will begin at Solihull in January 2011 and will be hosted by Quentin Willson, the British motoring authority who has at different times presented both Top Gear and Fifth Gear and who is a popular and credible commentator on tyres and road safety. During the roadshow TyreSafe will outline its ongoing plans to tackle the key issues associated with tyres and highlight how companies from a wide range of sectors can get involved and help save lives.
TyreSafe, which is dedicated to tyres and safety, was established in 2006 as a not for profit organisation and campaigns about the dangers associated with defective or illegal tyres in line with current legislation and duty of care regulations. It has already achieved an incredible amount but needs the support of others to reduce accident rates even further. This event gives companies an opportunity to understand what it does and how, with their help, even more lives can save from accidents related to tyres.
The devastating consequences of neglected tyres will also be explained to visitors to the Solihull roadshow by Shaun McKeown; forensic vehicle examiner for Cumbria Police and one of TyreSafe's recent 'wheel heroes'. In addition, Tim Peacock, group product manager for the Volkswagen Group (UK) will also outline how Volkswagen has benefitted from its membership of this not-for-profit tyre safety organization. All in all, the roadshow will be a 'must' for anyone involved in tyres and safety.
Attendance to this major tyres event is free and TyreSafe is keen to stress that professionals from all related industry sectors are invited to attend the event. In addition, TyreSafe states is particularly interested in welcoming those with an interest in tyres from insurance companies, fleets, car rental, breakdown services, petrol retailers and other vehicle manufacturers.
