The 21st global Youth festival with the main theme : Good Master, what shall I am doing to inherit the unceasing life commenced in Medjugorje on August 1st with the evening Holy Mass and finished on August 6th, feast of Transfiguration with the Holy Mass at five a.m. On the top of the Cross Mountain.
prior to the Holy Mass on first evening, young people from 69 numerous nations introduced themselves and were welcomed by Fr.Petar Vlasic, parish clergyman from Medjugorje . Opening Holy Mass was celebrated by Provincial of Herzegovina Franciscan Province, Fr. Ivan Sesar. Every evening there are around 500 priests who concelebrate at Holy Masses, and the entire programme is being at the same time translated in numerous world languages : English, German, Polish, Slovakian, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Portuguese, Arabian, Chinese, and Slovenian, while smaller language groups are translating in their own languages.The program is, as every year, marked with the prayer, adoration of Jesus in the sanctified Sacrament, lectures, affidavits and all of that's accompanied with the music and song of the global Orchestra and Choir. There are 42 commissioned members of the Press who monitor and follow everything that is taking place in Medjugorje, while several web portals are broadcasting the whole program live, both picture and sound, in assorted world languages.
The group of youngsters from Germany expounded that such a sweetness of our church can be felt only here, If you believe that our faith died, you simply come here and in the unity of more than fifty thousand folks you see that religion lives. There is something in the atmosphere that you can feel right away, claims young man in normal garments and his pal Benedikta, who came for the 1st time announced that she came to Medjugorje to brace her faith.
There is also a grouping of younger people from Australia, who came to Dubrovnik for a holiday, but they hired mini truck and they drive each day to Medjugorje and back to Dubrovnik. Some of them aren't even religious. They also speak about something special here in Medjugorje. As they come from wealthy families it isn't an issue for them to sleep in a hotel and drive every day to Medjugorje.
There's also a bunch of travellers from Italy who came to Medjugorje by bike and after the Youth festival they are going to continue their journey of 4500 km to Holy Land, looking to spread messages of peace and reconciliation on their way. One of them, Marcello, lives with the transplanted kidneys and asserts : I came here tired ; my health hasn't been so great. However in spite of that I made up my mind to come!
There were many commissioned press members who were reporting for their radio or television stations, one of the greatest being BBC Brit Broadcasting Corporation, the largest establishment for both radio and TV program, who were also filming their own documentary.
And while younger people are returning to their homes, being spiritually renewed and bolstered in their faith, new groups of pilgrims are arriving to Medjugorje with everyday.
