Everything you incorporate in your business card design tells something about you. The font style you use, colors you choose, layout style, photo feature, quality of the printing-all of these have an effect on the impression you leave to your prospects with your card.

When thinking about your card design, you need to focus on the differentiating factor that your target prospects will think about your business. If it can be done though colors or a photo, then do it.

Business cards have long been used as a way to share and exchange details to help build your business. Just like other marketing materials, these cards have to be use appropriately in order to put your best foot forward in the market. The following are the etiquette to make sure you are following the right manners when passing out your cards out in the crowd.

1. Introduce yourself with your cards. Many people get into the habit of walking in trade shows and, slipping business card in every stretched out hand without saying anything. Although business cards are used as a marketing tool, the idea behind successful marketing is to point out prospective customers first. In order to do that you need time to introduce yourself to your prospects and find out some information about them. A simple introduction can go a long way when it comes to business card marketing.

2. Keep it your card clean. Every time you will be handing out your cards, whether it is at an event like a trade show or in the street, you need to make sure that your cards are crisp, clean, and up to date. Keep in mind that those small pieces of paper are going to create your identity and make a first impression about both you and your business. As much as possible, you want to tell people that you are a professional and reliable business, and high quality business card templates that are clean and crisp are a good place to start.

3. Don't just hand out your card. Wait until people ask for it. A good practice to follow in business card marketing is to offer your card only when the other person asks for it. Don't force your card on people because the more you push your card, the more people won't use it. But if someone specifically asks for your card, this means he is interested in your business and your offerings. You can consider asking for the other person's contact details, to show them you are interested in their business.

4. When people give you their card, receive it graciously. Consider it as a gift when someone gives you their card. Be sure to repeat the person's name to make sure you pronounced it correctly. You can also make a positive remark about the card to show the other person that you are interested. Keep in mind that the more eagerly you receive the card, the more likely they will ask for your own.

5. You can write notes in the card. Consider writing a quick note at the back of your card when someone asks for it. The note can be anything about your conversation or something to help the recipient remember you. After all, when someone remembers why he asked for your card, he is most likely to give you a call after your initial meeting.

Business cards are still an indispensable marketing tool in the professional world today despite the popularity of modern networking techniques. With good handling, your cards will give you the impression you want others to see you. You can be assured that your professional image will stand out in all of your business encounters.
