Do you know what your cholesterol HDL ratio should be at? If you are a man, you should have more than 40 mg/dL, and if you are a woman, you should try to keep it above 50 mg/dL. Of course, with the good cholesterol, the more you have, the better. The same is true for the bad, or LDL, type. Keep it as low as possible. Fortunately, it is possible to simultaneously raise your HDL levels while lowering your LDL levels, which will go a long way in keeping your heart healthy and helping you to avoid heart disease.

The first thing you need to do to lower LDL cholesterol readings is cut out the bad foods. These are foods high in saturated fat. You also need to eliminate tobacco smoke from your body. If you exercise and lose weight, you will lower LDL naturally this way, and you will never have to pay for expensive pills, medications, or supplements. There really is no magical science here, but people simply don't want to do these things. They get used to living a certain way, and it is hard to change your lifestyle.

So what can you do to avoid Carcinoid heart disease and other problems? The first thing that you need to remember is that there are no magic pills, herbal remedies, or supplements that you can take that will make all your problems go away. If there were, then everyone would do those things. In reality, you have to eat a healthy diet and exercise as often as possible. If you do these things, and avoid smoking tobacco and excessive alcohol, you will be putting your heart in the best possible position. That does not guarantee good health unfortunately, but it helps quite a bit.

Interestingly enough, you don't have to eliminate alcohol. Alcohol can actually raise your cholesterol HDL ratio, though unlike other foods, it does not lower LDL at the same time. You also have to be very careful with it, as it has to be enjoyed in very moderate amounts. For some people, the negative effects outweigh the fact that it can increase the good cholesterol. The crucial thing to remember is that you cannot overdo it, as too much can affect your liver and your heart. So get omega 3 fatty acids from different foods, exercise, and lose weight. You will increase your HDL and keep your heart in good health.
