I know many women who can t wait for the winter season. Especially the if they are interested in the latest fashion trends for winter. Spring and summer are great since they bring back the color and show lots of skin. But in the chilled months of winter, the opportunities are limitless and the clothes will have an impact no matter the size or shape of your body parts.
Boots are always a popular starting item for the cold season. This year the knee and thigh high boots in suede or leather will be at the top of most people s list. The good news is these types of boots are considerably warmer and help keep those cold winds away from your legs. The bad news is they are expensive since more material is used and most styles use leather or other more expensive material.
Capes and cloaks make a comeback in high fashion design for 2009. From lightweight materials and short length to full body in all shapes and sizes will be available. Capes are generally short, with an open front, and have no sleeves. Capes were popular this fall and will continue to be a hot item throughout the winter months.
Cloaks are usually longer than capes, down to mid calf or ankle. From animal motifs to bold dark colors, and they usually are without sleeves or openings for the arms at all. From Gothic to Chic, styles will vary, but vintage looks from 20s and 30s will be predominating.
Wraps and shawls are popular too. Mainly for evening and dress for a night on the town. Wrapped around the shoulders and made with materials like silk or fur. They are often chosen for style rather than weather conditions so they can be more an accessory item than a functional garment.
Leather of all colors has been popular in recent years and will continue for this 2009. Anything made of leather from the tops to trousers will be present in numbers. Many clothing styles from traditional to modern will be popular. Something like a plain leather jacket for a casual afternoon, then with rhinestones for the evening are available from most designers.
The Dandy will make a come back in 2009 too. Fashions of the late 18th century with the look of men s clothes with military styles and severe cuts will be in style. Regency British accents and high collars, ruff and bow blouses, with feminine looks will be evident everywhere. Consider the style of 1700s high waist and tailored jackets as a good example of the style.
Colors tend to be dark in winter, but the exception of the winter season will be in chunky knits. Worn with jeans or casual pants, the colors are more vivid and the texture will be coarse and open. Knitted scarves, sweaters, of course, and evening clothes styles will be in full evidence. Even with a little skin showing through with large and very loose open weaves.
Ripped denim makes a comeback in 2009 directly from the grunge era of the 90s. Full length jeans, shorts, and jackets are coming back with all the rips and tears. The trend seems to be more concerned with the rejuvenation of the style, not so much any one garment. It s going to be how you wear it, not necessarily what you wear.
Speaking of ripping and tearing, torn stockings and pantyhose will receive a lot of attention this year too. It will most likely continue in the winter months. This is another trend that comes from the grunge era and sees more of a return along with the torn denim clothes.
Like it or not, these seem to be the styles and trends for the 2009 winter season. And this means that most clothing stores from small boutiques to chic department stores will be selling these types of clothing. So unless you want to stick with styles last year, you ll be wearing this year evolution.
