As one of the largest cities in the United Kingdom (about a half million residents) Manchester is located in what is considered the North West part of England, it has the Pennine hills to the North and East as well as the River Irwell, River Medlock and Irk. In the winter you can see the snow capped Pennines making for quite a pretty picture as well as nearby winter activities such as skiing. If you are looking for flats to rent in Manchester you should try to look for the view, there are many beautiful ones out there.

Red brick is a primary architectural look around the city. Some of the most classic sites to see in Manchester include Manchester Town Hall. There are also many parts with monuments to the heroes and public figures that have touched the city such as Prince Albert, Queen Victoria and the Duke of Wellington. If you are interested in parks you would have to see Heaton Park which is located in the northern part of the city. This park covers over 600 acres of land.

Culturally Manchester thrives with the old and the new co-existing. Manchester Evening New Arena holds over twenty thousand and is the largest in Europe. You can also experience the arts at the Manchester Apollo and Manchester Academy. Of course you can always go see the opera at the Manchester Opera House.

For the sports fan you have the premier sports team (and the richest) in the Manchester United football club. There is nothing like experiencing the home team playing at Old Trafford ground (which seats over 75 thousand). In addition there are many places you can go to play the sports you love such as golf with over 80 courses in the metropolitan area.

If you like museums and history there are many to choose from in Manchester. From the People's History Museums, to the Manchester Jewish Museum, Museum of Science and Industry or even Salford Museum and Art gallery there are plenty for you to visit and enjoy. You also have two major universities that you can either attend or go to enjoy from their sporting teams to the arts and cultural events that the students put on throughout the year.

All things considered, Manchester has something for everyone. The multiple shopping centres, arts, culture, light rail to get around and close proximity to other metropolitan areas make it centrally located to visit and live. It has a thriving night life and a bustling town centre and it is perfect for those that want a little bit of everything in their life.
