Ever since the invention of the caller ID, they now make it possibly for you to see every single person that calls you, where they are from and what their number is. Obviously this varies by phone call, but for the most part people can tell exactly where you are calling from and who you are. Some people don't like caller ID because they feel that it's an invasion of their privacy. The thing is that there is no real good way to change caller ID and prevent from letting people see your number.
You can call the telephone company I think, but this probably is pretty expensive to do! Well, in comes mask caller id - this allows you to call people and have a completely different caller id than what it really is. For instance, say my name is Frank Furter and I live in Arizona. When I call you and if you have caller ID you can easily see I am calling from AZ - even if AZ doesn't come up directly, there is a little thing called the Internet where you can look up the area code and see it's in AZ.
If I am calling from a land line phone you could also look up my number and see even more private information such as my full name and address. Once you know that information I'm pretty much in trouble because at this point you can do whatever you want. And thanks to the caller ID you also can keep my number on your phone for an extended amount of time! Well I don't like this one bit! Instead, I want to change my name to Charlie Horse and I live in Philadelphia PA area code 215.
Now even if you look me up, chances are you won't be able to find out ANY information about me. It's all about privacy! This isn't JUST for privacy reasons though. You can also use this service to ditch calls and to play pranks on your friends when you change caller ID. One website I found online let's you change the number AND the actual voice! That is just hilarious. I can think of about 20 ways I could use this right now on at least 20 different people! Of course I wouldn't suggest you do anything too bad because that's just not cool!
But if you want to trick your friends by using a mask caller ID or you want to save face in front of a caller or you want to keep your privacy... private? Awesome. This type of a product would be perfect for you! By the way, if YOU can use this service that means other people can as well! Maybe someone will try to trick you back or something of the like. Be on the lookout or you just may be the butt of the joke in the end! Have fun with this and think of the really funny things you could do with it!
