Bands and artists from across the UK and Europe are gearing up to showcase their music and creativity by entering Surface Festival 2011 which offers unsigned bands promotion and more than ?100,000 in prizes.
Surface Festival and their 23 international sponsors have pulled out all the stops this year to offer more prizes than ever before so if you are looking for unsigned band promotion you've come to the right place. The prize pool has increased from ?60,000 last year to a whopping ?100K for 2011! Surface Festival say: "We've been working really hard to cover all bases for bands with the sponsors we've got involved and the prizes on offer for 2011. 2011 is going to be massive."
The pan-European Surface Festival will be commencing in February 2011. Over 500 shows will be running across Europe, culminating in an international showcase at the globally recognized 02 complex in London. At this final event the best bands of the festival perform in front of an invited industry panel, who will award the best bands with prizes.
Alex Baker from the Kerrang Radio Unsigned Show, who sits on the panel, explain the importance of this festival for unsigned bands promotion: "The Surface Festival gives bands a genuine opportunity to get their music in front of people in the industry that can help further their careers. The prizes offered for the winning band and runners up are just fantastic and the experience all the bands gain from playing larger venues is priceless."
A host of industry guests are invited to Surface Festival events. Names have included Jon Brookes from The Charlatans, Warner Music, Weekender Records and MAS records to name a few.
Prizes for the winning band include a whole host of unsigned band promotion goodies, notably a slot at Sziget Festival 2011, a slot at Guitar Nation, professional one-day video shoot including edit courtesy of Creative Junkie Media, Marshall rig courtesy of Marshall Amplification, a tailor made PR campaign for the release of a single in the UK as well as marketing advice to help drive sales courtesy of Quite Great Communications and a digital distribution contract with Zimbalam Digital.
