How to Find the most profitable keywords for your niche ?

Keywords are the most important, so think twice, before you will start optimizing your website. If you make it wrong, the whole rest of process will be useless.When you will start your research you must remember that you know your niche already alot more then anyone else, you know the special terms that are used in your branch and you know exactly what you should type in searchbox when you're looking for products like yours. Your customers don't know the terms and they will be always searching for keywords, that you can't predict. People who find your website in search engines through a special keyword might not be interested and leave your website in no time. That's why you should always ask your friends and family members, which are not related to your business, what they would type in search box to find your website.

You should focus on niche keywords mostly. Imagine that you are selling used cars in Detroit. The word "car" is a very popular keyword, but it's useless to your business. Web surfers searching for "car" keyword wiill look for many informations and 99% of them will not be realated to your business. they will be looking for new sport cars, concept cars, car shows etc. This keyword is very competitive and it's almost impossible to get your website to top pages of search engines with this keyword. Costs of campaign would be 1000 times higher then your year budget and profits would not increase. Your potential buyers would like to buy used car and nearby Detroit, the will not travell hundreds miles to see a car thet they want to buy. So you should focus on local clients. Phrase "used cars Detroit" would be much better. Ok you have this keyword, but it's also competitive and it's jus an one keyword. When you will look at this keyword using Google, then you will se how many competitiors you have on the map on the right side of search results. That's alot. So you should find much more keywords, less competitive and hitting directly into your target. Let's just say, that your business is located near Detroit Lakes. Some of your customers will not travell the whole Dtroit to find a car, so they will look close to their neighbourhood. So you have the third keyword: "used cars Detroit Lakes". Now you have 3 keywords - from very competitive to less competitive but very well targeted. This should bring you a traffic. Not think about cars you are selling. Imagine that you specialize in Ford cars. So that's what you should focus on - "used Ford cars Detroit" is a great keyword, and you can't forget about "used Ford cars Detroit Lakes also".

You have couple of good keywords, but you want more. So that are you going to do now ? At the beggining you've asked your friends and family what keywords they would be searching. You wrote some of them and it's a time to ask Google, what does it think about it. Google has a great feature - keywords suggestion. When you type your keyword in searchbox, Google will automatically suggest you some additive words. Your family has told you that they want to buy a car with guaranteed finance, it's a good keyword and you should also focus on word "guaranteed". Just type this keyword mixed with your base keywords and see what you'll get. Type "cars with guaranteed ..." and you get: "guaranteed finance", "guaranteed credit", "guaranteed financing". When you will combine this keywords with your base keywords you'll get amazing results. you have now great niche keywords like "used cars Detroit with guaranteed credit", "Used Ford cars with guaranteed finance Detroit" and much more.

The last thing to check keywords effectivity are web statistics. Web statistics should have a tool, which shows keywords, that bringed traffic from search engines to your website. I personally prefer AWStats. The main difference between statistics keywords and keywords from search engines is that statistics never lie. Kewords suggested in search engines are not as accurate as your own statistics keywords. When you will optimize your website for main keywords, and you will get results, the next thing is to improve them and add some more keywords directly from your statistics. The combination of both sources will get you impressing results, traffic and sales.
