Are you sick of your cluttered home? Are you dreaming of a new start and a clutter-free home once again? It isn't easy to stop the cycle of clutter and get that immaculate house again, but it can be done... and in MUCH less time than you could have thought! Ready to begin? Here are some things to help you in your goal of getting clutter-free in a hurry.
1. Do not stop being optimistic. Remind yourself about all of those ancient sayings which are cliché but true: "Rome was not built in a day" and "The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time". On no account let yourself think that you are way too far behind to start anything, much less how the task is just too much for you yourself.
2. Look at precisely what is preventing you from placing stuff away right after use. Distractions? Laziness? Need more space for mail to be filed after you open it? Not enough storage space, shelves, or cupboards in general?
3. Plainly spell out your target. What does your dream home look like? What are you prepared to surrender to reach this objective? Why do you plan to start decluttering your house now?
4. Try to understand exactly why you are holding onto things. Emotional attachment? Frugal personality? Guilt? If you can determine (even vaguely) what it is that prevents you from getting rid of the untidiness, you are going to be better able to address those problems head on and then see if they are actually legit.
5. Consider what your strengths are. Choose what methods or plans of attack would best suit you. Do you find it enjoyable to be crossing finished tasks off your To-Do List? Do you think you might value a timed approach where you set aside a specific amount of time for cleaning and decluttering every day? Or maybe you might be interested in the concept of holding a "Declutter My House" week when you permit no disruptions and get as large an amount finished as possible in one particular stretch?
Once you have considered all this, congratulations! You're much closer to figuring out of how to start decluttering your home. Psychologically you are preparing for the great challenge, and that's a BIG aspect of your success! And now, you are ready for some pointers on how to get going!
