People usually do not think about the significance of Communion sets in today's world. Christian churches still revere these to be important items that are used to represent and share the love and body of Christ.
Even though it is an important celebration, there are still some people that are not familiar with how and what the Holy Communion is all about.
The Holy Communion actually mimics a celebration that Jesus had with his disciples. This gathering is representative of the Last Supper that Christ had.
Another name for the Holy Communion is the Eucharist celebration. This serves as a breaking of bread and thanksgiving. It represents how Christian believers can now hear, taste, touch, taste and receive the Lord's grace through Jesus Christ and his sacrifice.
In a Holy Communion, everything is used to symbolize something. For example, the main elements would be the bread and the wine. The bread represents the body of Christ.
This breaking of the bread symbolizes the fact that Christ died and sacrificed himself for humanity, forgiving humankind's sin.
Communions actually saw a decline in practice at some point; however, today, the tradition has become an important part in every church celebration.
As for children, they can partake of the Communion usually at the ages of seven or eight. They go on to have a Confirmation during their teen years. The Parish priests are usually the ones who have a hand in determining whether a child is ready for Communion.
Ultimately, the parents have the last say in the matter and when they think their child would be ready.
A Holy Communion is a special event, and thus, it requires several tools and materials. You can find plenty of communion sets that are used by people in the clergy in different denominations.
Of course, communions are not just limited for the children, in fact, any person who wants to accept Christ can go ahead and partake of the Communion. There are times when the need for an on-the-spot Communion is called for.
For this same reason, communion sets that are portable are now for sale. These same portable sets are very convenient to carry around and use.
Back in the day, communion sets were made from expensive silver and were never mass produced. A traditional set were composed of a chalice or cup, a paten, a cruet, and a pyx. All of these are important to the Communion.
For example, there is the pyx, a small storage container for the Eucharistic bread. The cruet is the bottle that is used to store the wine which is taken to represent the blood of Christ.
Then, you have the paten, which is a small, usually silver plate that is used to hole the Eucharistic bread. Then, of course, there is the cup or the chalice which is intended to hold the drink. During the Communion, this is filled with wine.
All these elements are essential in the event of a Holy Communion. This event is definitely a big part of a Christian's life.
With the help of Communion sets, everyone can live a life under the grace of the Lord.
