His "I Love NY" logo launched a fashion craze, initiating the release of millions of bumper stickers, buttons and t-shirts all across New York. This designer's work featuring a silhouetted singer with technicolor lightning bolts for hair is an iconic image to an entire generation.

Record collections dating from the 1960's will sport his designs on their covers. His work, even though millions of people know it, may not be considered to be art. The designer doesn't want to talk about that. He doesn't even like to use the word "art". During an interview he said he felt the word "art" ought to be thrown out altogether and that creative expressions should simply be called "work". And when it is a striking, visionary or otherwise out of the ordinary piece, it should be called a "great work". If it hits its mark, it can be referred to as 'good' and if it fails, call it 'bad'.

One of his most influential pieces marks out a man's movements, who is typically referred to as the Picasso of the design world. Using bright red rope, he showed the interconnection between the finished works and their inspirations. He also hung process drawings and sketches. He calls this his procedure. He doesn't have an end point in mind, but rather allows his mind to be free as he finds inspiration.

Paper wings and an angel postcard is what sparked the conception of yet another gorgeous art piece. These things hang on a wall that's opposite of the crouched angel that adorns the finished painting. A well-known comic strip is mounted on the opposing side of yet another famed art piece. It is making fun of the traditionally pretentious, or stuffy, air of classical music, as it depicts a well-known pianist sneezing.

The artist refers to the world as his visual resource. One poster her designed was a job for a typewriter company in Italy, he borrowed the poster's theme from a famous painting in order to convey the message. The original piece exhibits a grief-stricken dog, resting at the feet of his dead master. However, in this re-creation, he features a dog lying next to a red typewriter.

Thanks to his design an extremely influential studio was opened in New York bringing the concept of design to exciting new heights. A large metropolitan magazine was created by him, which also inspired city magazines around the United States. A famous trade center boasts a permanent exhibition as well as an observation deck and restaurants; these are all his work. The international AIDS symbol and poster are his work, as is the design of a supermarket chain. The graphic artist likes to design for differing ideas; and also enjoys expanding the rules of design as far as he can.

The iconic poster mentioned earlier of the rainbow-hair singer has been reprinted in over six million copies. The work shows the singer with very colorful hair, and the profile was inspired by another well-known artist. Some have suggested the artist must have been high on drugs when he created the work. But this graphic designer will never admit to such a thing. In the course of his time at work as a graphic designer, he's even also designed two giant playgrounds -one for kids, and one for us grown-up kids.
