Engage and entertain your guests with lively ice breaker games. They are an effective means for alleviating awkward tension and creating opportunities to get acquainted.

Getting teens interested in socializing is easy, when you plan some zany and fun ice breaker games, to help break the ice between the guests. This is the best way for you to get your party atmosphere revved up into high gear. Besides, who doesn t want to win a few prizes and enjoy a moment or two in the spotlight in front of their friends?

TREASURE HUNT IDEAS

Treasure hunts are one of the best ice breaker games for any party. And, the good news is that this activity may be enjoyed by people of all ages. Separate your teens into teams and provide them with a hand drawn map to follow, along with a list of clues to give them additional hints. As your treasure hunters work together to find that hidden treasure, they will start to lose a lot of their shyness and normal inhibitions. Soon they will join in and get into the party spirit. Sometimes the quiet ones become the most animated.

SCAVENGER HUNTS

Arrange a scavenger hunt and separate your teens into teams. Provide each team with a list of certain objects that they will have to collect, photograph, to videotape. You can limit the search to your yard, neighborhood, or take the party out to a park for a real, no limits scavenging adventure. Also, consider making a scavenger hunt to go along with your theme. For example, a spa or diva type party might like to have a scavenger hunt held at a mall. Get your creative juices flowing and think outside the box. Have you ever considered orchestrating a graveyard scavenger hunt?

AN ICY DELIGHT

Place containers of ice cubes in the game area. Have everyone grab an ice cube and try to melt it without using their mouth. Whoever is able to melt their cube first shall be the winner. You ll soon discover who the brave souls are, or the highly competitive individuals, as they withstand the freezing ice against their bodies. Be sure noise isn t an issue for your neighbors, because I guarantee they will hear shrieks and squeals as attempts to melt the ice are pursued.

ALLITERATION

Everyone stands in a circle and comes up with an adjective using alliteration with the first letter of their name. For example, Lighthearted Lilly or Marvelous Marv. After everyone has a turn, have them come up with two alliterations, like Lovely, Lighthearted Lilly or Mighty, Marvelous Marv. If someone is stumped, have everyone pitch in to come up with the additional alliterations.

There are many other great icebreaker games you can use at your next party. Twister is still popular, along with charades. Both of these well known party games can be tailored to suit any group or gathering.

There are many different ice breaker games to select from, and you can easily create your own original games, or personalize long time favorites. Just relax and remember, the goal is for everyone to have fun, and don t over complicate the rules. If you select a variety of great activities, your party will be the toast of the town!
