Theoretically, a 160 pound person can drink all night if he or she only consumed one beer per hour. However, the throes of festivity can sometimes bring the addition of more alcohol. Two shots of bourbon and an Irish Car Bomb does not equate to a blood alcohol level of .02% just because there is only one beer involved. One must remember to count shots as well. Shots are essentially the same as beer.
Penalties
The country of Canada has decided to evoke a number of penalties for those who can't keep the keys out of the ignition. It has been estimated that just one's first offense can create fines up to $20K. One may think this is an exaggeration until he or she calculates all that is affected.
For example, there will be penalties payable towards the Canadian government, the expense of installing a Breathalyzer in your automobile, the expense of the Breathalyzer itself, alcohol lessons that will be needed to reinstate one's license, insurance penalties, and a license reinstatement fee in general. Taking into account all of this, that $20 you thought you would save by driving home might cost you $20K. Call a taxi; it's your best bet.
