The BlackBerry Storm 9500 was unveiled in November 2008. It is RIM's very first Blackberry device to use "Surepress", the touch screen display which reacts much like a physical keyboard by giving off a clicking sensation every single time you tap on the display. Some other useful important features on the device consist of a 3.25 inch screen, an accelerator for you to rotate the screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, 528mhz Qualcomm processor and 1 gigabyte of storage space.

The blackberry Apllication Center makes it possible for users to download a wide range applications such as Facebook, Flickr, Youtube, Google maps, messaging apps, and many others.

There's good and bad news regarding the connection to the internet. Even though the cellphone does make use of HSDPA for speedier web browsing on supported networks, the unfortunate news is that there is no Wi-fi. Furthermore, if you get the Blackberry unlocked and want to use it on North American GSM companies such as Cingular AT&T or T-mobile, you would be limited to using their slower EDGE connection.

If you bought a Blackberry and wish to change providers, you will have to get the Blackberry unlocked. In case you are wondering why the cell phone comes locked, let me explain why. Service providers will usually offer the cell phone at a discount and recover the expense over time (depending on the length of the contract you signed with the service provider). By locking the cell phone to their network, this helps reassure them that you won't able to get the phone from them at a discount, break your agreement and change to a less expensive service provider.

As soon as the cellphone is unlocked, it will be possible to use a sim card from all other GSM service providers. Many people make use of phone unlocking when they travel, in order to buy a simcard from the local area service provider in the city they may be visiting. This allows them to avoid paying the roaming fees that their service provider back home will charge them (if you use your cellphone in another country, you will be charged roaming fees from your service provider, which can be avoided by using your unlocked mobile phone with a local simcard).

Unlocking your cellular phone is straightforward, you just need an unlock code. You can purchase a code by going to our website CellUnlockCode.com (full url is at the end of this article). Your unlock code will be emailed to you, usually within a few minutes (but can take up to a few hours). Once you've received your Blackberry unlock code, all you need to do is follow the instructions below to enter in your code.

This process can be performed with or without a simcard inserted into your Blackberry

1. Turn on your Blackberry and click on the "Manage Connections" icon. Choose the option "Turn off all connections". All connections will be disabled.

2. Go back to the Home screen and click the "Options" icon and choose "Advanced Options"

3. Scroll down and select "SIM Card" from the list

4. Press the Blackberry key and select "Show Keyboard" to bring up the keyboard

5. Push the following keys in order: MEPD

6. On the following screen, type MEP then [ALT BUTTON] then the number 2 (NOTE: You won't see any text appear on the screen while you are typing)

7. A prompt will show up asking for the MEP code. Type in the unlock code you received from from cellunlockcode.com

8. Restart your cellphone

As soon as your mobile phone unlock code has been typed in and accepted, your phone will be unlocked. After that you can insert a simcard from from any gsm carrier and the phone will quickly pick up the network. In some cases you might need to change some configurations on the cellphone (email along with other web related services) by pointing them to your new service provider.
