1. Make an agreement
Most teens probably won't like this but its a great way to do it. You can make an agreement with them that you will advance them the cost of the console and in exchange they have to get a weekend job to repay it. Not only will this teach them responsibility but it will help them to really appreciate it.
2. Online auctions
While eBay exploded on to the internet a decade ago its now become much more of a "store" than a true auction site. You can still find real bargains but there are loads more auction sites where you can pick up "good as new" consoles for 50% less.
3. Used And Refurbished Stock
Used and refurbished games consoles can be a great buy. If you can find a used one that is still under warranty then its a great buy. While you can find used ones in really good condition all over the internet, buying a refurbished one will give you that added peace of mind and value for money.
Consoles are not really a good investment and like all technology it has a very limited life. This is yet another way that you can save and by buying older models you can make significant savings. The problem is that you probably won't be able to play the latest games but you can still get a good year or two of use out of it and its certainly an option.
