Rab merchandise has been around for the past 30 plus years, groundbreaking design geared for the extreme temperatures. Rab Carrington began making his gear for the outdoorsman due to his own love of hiking and surviving in extremely cold temperatures. His innovative approach to his line of gear takes the wilderness and tames it, all with style and protection. Realizing the needs of climbers and hikers, Rab designed a hiking kit in the 1980's, which encompassed the needs of the average hiker.

Setting up business in Sheffield, UK, Rab developed his line of hiking gear with the average hiker in mind. Having gained his knowledge of what climbers and hikers needed through his own expeditions in the 1970's, Rab was highly qualified to be in a position to create his kits. He was the first manufacturer to use Pertex in his sleeping bags and down jackets.

Today the tradition lives on with the line of Rab clothing and accessories. Highly durable and lightweight, perfect for putting in a pack as it is down filled, the Rab line will keep you warm and toasty in the coldest days of winter.

One amazing article that Rab produces is the Rab Bergen Jacket. Lightweight, at only 500 grams, this jacket is perfect for a multitude of purposes. Taking a walk through the mountains where the weather can be especially challenging, this jacket will keep you protected against the elements. Featuring a lumbar draw cord, as well as a hem draw cord with adjustable cuffs, you will not have to worry about the cold air slipping up from underneath to let the warmth escape.

Another amazing feature is the two sealed outer pockets that have a drainage system. You will no longer be getting your documents, matches, or other necessities soaked by a sudden downpour of torrential rain. There is also an inner map pocket so that you are assured that you will arrive at your destination without incident. The adjustable wire peak hood will ensure that you will not get wind travelling down your back either.

The hood is lightweight and thin enough that if you are using a helmet there will be no issues with too tight a fit. All of the adjustments that need to be made can be accomplished with one hand, this is especially important, as you do not always have two hands free at all times. The waist adjusters are located in the two front pockets; this is especially handy in the snowier climates where strings can often become ice and snow packed. The roll and tuck hood comes in hand when on a windy day that is not as cold you don't want your hood flapping in the breeze. Simply roll and secure it with a tab that has been conveniently placed for a compact fit.

Caring for you jacket is an easy task. Regular washing of your garment will help with the performance of it. It can be washed on the warm setting and dried in the dryer. Drip-drying is also an option but the warmth of the dryer helps to rejuvenate the fabrics finish. Be sure the dryer is not set on a high heat as it may work to meld the fabric fibres together.

This garment is not dry clean recommended. Fabric softeners and bleach will damage the look of your jacket so be sure to avoid these products. Should you wish to iron your jacket this can be done, however it should be set on one of the lowest settings as a high temperature could severely damage the integrity of the jacket.
