1) No matter what you may have heard, one of the first things that you will need is a website and your own domain name. The best thing to do with this domain is to set up a blog.
2) Decide on a niche that you want to target. You do not want to target a niche that has a lot of competition already like the "make money online" niche or the "weight loss" niche. This Internet marketing guide is not here to tell you that you will make a fortune in the "money making" niche, find a niche with less competition, this is not about getting rich, it is about earning a good extra income.
3) Find products that you can promote in this niche. Click Bank is a great place to find products to promote for just about any niche. Also sign up for an Adsense account.
4) Find keywords for your niche that do not have too much competition. Build a huge list of these keywords, as many as you can. You can sign up for a Adwords account and use the free keyword tool that they let you use. You do not have to pay any money, just sign up for the account and use their tools.
5) Now for the most important part of this internet marketing guide. Everyday post content on your blog using one of the keywords as the anchor for the content of your post. Use the keyword in the title of the post in the first paragraph of the post and throughout the post.
6) Begin building links for your site. Everyday build a few links to your homepage by submitting your homepage URL to directories and a bunch of links to your post pages. You can do this by setting up Hub Pages, and pages on Squidoo. You can also comment on forums and in blogs leaving a link every time. There are a lot of other ways to build links but you will learn them in time.
7) Everyday when you create a new post on your blog, do not forget to build links to that page every day.
8) Submit your website to the search engines every month. No matter who tells you that you do not need to, this is a great way to make sure the search engines are coming to your website and crawling the pages.
