There are many statistics in the market which are available that you could gain from when looking at taking out a critical illness insurance plan for either yourself or your partner. Some of the statistics may help you consider what exactly you want to cover when deciding what contract you would like of which suit your needs but is also within your budget. For example if you decide you think it is important to be covered for a specific cancer it may be worth focusing on the providers that cover such an illness. As there are many illnesses covered in the various provider plans, it is up to you which provider you choose to take out your plan with whether that is due to the comprehensiveness of the plan etc. As consumers are becoming more and more aware of people suffering with various illnesses combined with seeing loved being diagnosed with critical illnesses such as cancer it may encourage you to think of what you may need or want. It may not be at the forefront of your mind but if you were to be diagnosed with a critical illness and if you were unable to work for a period of time you may need the support to carry on living until or if you were able to work again and have a steady income. With critical illness insurance it would give you piece of mind that you would have a lump sum of money to use as you wished if a successful claim were to be made. As many people take out life insurance when looking at taking out a mortgage it may be likely that at the same time consumers combine the plan with critical illness insurance but if you are thinking of taking such insurance it would be beneficial to search the market to find the best policy at the best possible price to give you good value for money. If or when a successful claim would be met the lump sum agreed at point of sale would be paid out as a cash lump sum of which is then tax free.

When you are younger, insurance may not seem that important, you may be at university enjoying your life or living at home getting some money together to go travelling perhaps. However it may be a thought to look at taking at some life insurance and maybe include critical illness cover for the future. When taking out an insurance plan you can more often than not include life insurance into a critical illness plan at no additional cost as it is the critical illness insurance which is the most expensive part of the plan. It is though a worthwhile cause as you could insure yourself for up to about forty illnesses, and when you are younger the cost of insurance is substantially cheaper than when you may be in your thirties or forties. The reason for this is mostly down to your age and if you choose a term which will cover you to retirement you are guaranteed to pay that price until you retire and not having to pay a higher premium for the same insurance later in life just because of your age. One major factor when taking out an insurance plan is any illnesses you have previously and therefore when you are younger you are less likely to have any serious illness which may cause the insurance premium to go up, exclude a condition offered or maybe even decline you from taking out the insurance.

When looking at taking out a plan, you will have to complete an application form which will ask you some general information about yourself and your lifestyle for example if you do any activities such as climbing or mountaineering. It will then ask you a number of heath questions in order to establish if you have illnesses which need further clarification on from maybe yourself through what is called a telephone interview or maybe even request some information from your doctor. This can delay the final underwriting decision however it is always best that the providers have all the facts to ensure they make the right decision. Once a decision is made it is still your choice whether you take out the plan or not, you are under no obligation at any point through the application process or even once the policy has started.
