Red wine has long been considered to be heart healthy. The alcohol and Resveratrol antioxidants in it help prevent heart disease by increasing levels of HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and protecting the arteries against damage. Resveratrol is a key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces bad cholesterol and prevents blood clots.

For those who already enjoy a glass of red wine during diner, this is great news. But of course doctors do not recommend anyone to start drinking alcohol simply for a few benefits. We all know that too much alcohol can have many harmful effects.

The “French Paradox” is largely contributed to having a glass of red wine with dinner. Red wine has the highest concentration of Resveratrol compared to any other common beverage. Resarchers and health supplement companies are now starting to harness the amazing benefits of the French Paradox by creating even higher concentrations of Resveratrol than what red wine has.

Although there is still a lot to be learned about Resveratrol, doctors agree that it helps your heart in many different ways. Researchers have found that the antioxidants such as flavonoids in Resveratrol have promising heart health benefits.

The Resveratrol studies show that the antioxidants called polyphenols help protect the lining of blood vessels in your heart. These antioxidants come in two main forms: flavonoids and nonflavonoids.

Flavonoids are found in a variety of fruits and vegetables such as oranges, grape juice, apples, onions, tea and cocoa. Other types of alcohol, such as white wine and beer, contain small amounts, too, but red wine has higher levels because the grape skins used in making red wine have high amounts of Resveratrol.

Nonflavonoids found in red wine and Resveratrol and have recently been of particular interest because they help prevent arteries from becoming clogged with fatty blockages and cholesterol. Resveratrol is the nonflavonoid that s received the most attention from researchers.

Recent studies have indicated that Resveratrol antioxidants also help protect from obesity and diabetes, both of which are strong risk factors for heart disease. This is one of the main reasons that Resveratrol has been called the anti aging miracle.

Research also shows that Resveratrol is linked to a reduced risk of inflammation and blood clotting, both of which can lead to heart disease. Research into the potential heart health benefits of Resveratrol is continuing at a growing rate. More and more benefits are being found all the time.

For example, researchers at the renowned Harvard Medical School and BIOMOL Research Laboratories have found that Resveratrol greatly reduces the proliferation of dozens of different types of cancer cells.

With many benefits and ever more promising studies, Resveratrol is taking the world by storm. Millions of people are starting to enjoy the life enhancing anti aging, cancer reducing and weight loss benefits of this new wonder supplement. As research gains ground, many new uses and benefits will most certainly be discovered. And with the awareness of Resveratrol only a few years old, only time will tell the complete story of all of the amazing health improvements that taking this supplement is providing.
