It used to be easy to decorate your house-you just called your favorite decorator and made an appointment. Sure for some people this is still an option. For most people, though, hiring a decorator is a luxury they cannot afford. How many people in your life have homes that they haven't "bothered" to decorate their homes because they aren't able to afford fancy decorating items? The good news is that there are plenty of ways you can decorate without going over budget. Here are some things that you can do to decorate and save money.
Ignore the expensive galleries. Unless you want to make your own, don't bother trying to hunt down original pieces of art right now. Prints are a great way to have fantastic art for less money. It is way cheaper to buy prints. Art prints are cheaper and easier to deal with than original artworks. Prints are usually made in standard sizes which makes the framing of them easy-you can even do the framing yourself. Simply choose a frame you like from the discount racks at the frame shop and do the work yourself! Going to the frame shop is something you can do in your own time-you don't have to worry about working around a professional framer's schedule and, if you buy the frame on sale, you can save quite a lot of money! If you must have original works of art, create them yourself! Creating your own original art is better for your budget and still let s you fill your house with original pieces. The money you'll spend on art supplies to make your own original pieces will still be less than the money you'd spend on even one piece of original art by someone else. You can create your own paintings and sculptures when you have the time-nobody says you have to follow a schedule. Get your family in on the fun by letting them create things to display. Your kids can use the art they make to decorate their rooms. Borrow a few books on drawing or painting from friends or the library and use them for inspiration! This way, if someone compliments the art in your home you only have to say "thank you!"
Put down new rugs. If you live in a home with wall to wall carpet, you can opt for purchasing a room sized rug or two to give your home a new look. Finding a room sized rug is easy-most department stores carry them. If you have hardwood or tile floors, use accent rugs to change the feel of the room. Accent rugs are affordable and can easily be moved or replaced. For those who know how to crochet or knit, they can save even more money by making their own rugs to use as decorations. Decorating a home does not have to be expensive. There is no need to dedicate great chunks of time to home decorating. Decorating your home should be fun! You won't be able to enjoy your home's d?cor if all you can think about is how much time it cost you and how much money you spent on the project.
