This past weekend, I joined a few friends at a local cigar parlor. We have been there a few times, enjoy the music and atmosphere, but this time the lighters grabbed my attention. I became very aware of the wide variety of style among the world of lighters. This is not something I have ever put much thought into - need a light, grab one at the gas station on your next visit, right? Wrong...very wrong!
Sitting back at the cigar parlor, I started to notice how much thought and personality people do put into the purchase of their lighters. There are the Coleman lighters which some have the swiss army knife look while others are wind resistant but all fill the need for the outdoorsman. Then there are the Tonino Lamborghini lighters, they are as sleek as their name and have a high level of style and sophistication. Dunhill lighters have a design that has remained popular and unchanged since 1958, can idealize the owner holding high value to tradition and timeless quality. There are quite a few brands and specific styles of lighters such as Xikar, Corona, Porsche, Firebird, Lotus, Bugatti & Brizard to name just a few. With each of these styles, there is a look and feel to fit any personality.
There are also table lighters. These lighters are a true sign of elegance many made of leather, brushed steel or crystal. I admire the bigger, block style table lighters. They immediately bring the image of a dark wood desk in a study with shelves of books and forest green walls, big leather chair with very few, precise and select, accessories on the desk, including the block style table lighter....you can almost smell the cigar or pipe in the image itself. This image conjures a feel of intelligence and wisdom of its owner.
And for the pipe enthusiast, there is a lighter specifically for them. Pipe lighters are built with the flame coming from the side of the lighter for ease in use with a pipe. They also come in a variety of styles to fit any pipe smoker.
Speaking of lighters with a specific purpose, there are also lighters made for specific use for lighting candles, the fireplace and the grill. These lighters have a much longer neck so can you can safely light without having your hand so close. These lighters also come in a variety of style and function.
Now, with all this discussion on lighters, the varieties and styles they come in, we cannot forget accessories for lighters. When thinking of accessories, butane refills, flint refills etc. come to mind. There are also cleaning cloths as well as cases. There are cases made of leather, metal even airline regulated cases for your travel needs.
Whatever your need for a lighter, you can find one that fits your style and personality. Lighters can even be engraved which makes them a wonderful gift idea for birthdays or even grooms gifts for a wedding.
