I bought my first one made by Fieldsheer from a website that sold used riding attire. It cost me about $250. That appears like a lot but I had that jacket for eight years now and its still in fine condition, except for that it offers re enforced panels and body armor in all of the contact areas making it much safer for me if i am doing go down. For a first-class bike jacket that is made from a high grade leather and is properly stitched and re applied $250 to $350 is an especially great price. You will be able to find cheap universal no name jackets for much less, however the standard of those is extremely bad. I am going to tell you a tale about purchasing one of those universal made in Pakistan type riding jackets in a sec. Anyway I would go with a first class big brand when thinking about bike garments. Icon motorbike jackets and gear are doubtless the hottest nowadays and Icon doe make quality stuff that is always trendy to boot. The best thing about Icon is that you'll likely be in a position to find boots and gloves as well as two riding pants to go with the jacket.
Icon also makes some superb jackets made from a Kevlar mesh that offer about the same protection as their leather opposite numbers but are excellent for riding in hot temperatures. I have one of each myself.
Ok back to the inexpensive jacket part. 1 or 2 years gone I purchased a classic motorbike jacket for one of my fiances. We were riding on my chopper a lot so it seemed sensible to go that route.
I went to a local place and found a jacket for approximately $100 and acquired it. I believed I got a good deal.
Well no I got a cheap motorbike jacket. The leather ended up ripping on the jacket inside a month round the zips. Then the zip went south. That is the last time I purchased an universal jacket. You're much likelier to run in to a fair deal then at your local dealer unless you've a pal at the agency you are paying full nut there and tax. Most online bike shops will carry quality clothes by firms like, Joe Rocket, Alpinestars, Icon, AgvSport and Arlen Ness to name some of the more favored ones. Most online shops will be offering the same jackets at a reduction off somewhere around ten to fifteen p.c off and unless they are in your state their is no tax to be paid. I know 1 or 2 folks are still dubious of purchasing stuff online, however be assured that most web traders are quite convincing. If you have any doubts some of the things to take a look for is they give you a phone number to call, their is a make contact with us section that will let you e-mail them, when you go thru the checkout process make sure the tiny lock appears at the top or at the base of your browser showing the checkout section is encoded. If you do run in to a place that is way less expensive then any other person always ask why. Virtually all the dealers online buy their products from the same source so if one guy is super cheap which should be an idea of something shady going on. Also on a related topic if you do not mind buying used stuff cheap you can try ebay. I have purchased some superb stuff from there for almost nothing.
