If there was ever a time to purchase some good UK travel insurance, before a trip to the haunted capital would be it. London is known to be one of the most haunted cities in the world, much to the delight of ghost hunters. There is also quite a following of fans of paranormal activity, and London tourism thrives on its ghost tours and supernatural events. From walking tours through famous hauntings in the city centre, to more in depth group visits to ghosts’ lairs, there are always thrill seekers looking for a night of excitement while visiting London.

If you’re planning a trip to London, you should consider including a paranormal event into your itinerary. The walking tours will show you parts of London you probably wouldn’t have otherwise seen, and the thrill of the possibility of seeing a ghost will add spice to your holiday experience. Here are some of the paranormal events you could go to while in the haunted city:

The Original London Ghost Festival

This petrifying event lasts for 8 days and nights in the run up to Halloween. The festival is about ghosts and ghosts alone. You can visit hauntings, go on ghostly walks, and have ghostly talks. Led by some of the most knowledgeable people in London, you will learn the stories behind hauntings and the theories of why and how ghosts exist. But, we warn you, get some UK travel insurance before you go, because you just never know what might happen...

The Graveyard Shift at Landguard Fort

This event is definitely not for the faint hearted. The Landguard Fort is possibly one of the most haunted places in the UK, situated on a deserted part of peninsula in Felixstowe. This old fort has seen the passing of many a soul, and it is no small wonder that some of these souls have never left, or have returned to haunt the fort forever. And for one night, ghost hunters meet to hold a vigil and patrol the grounds, in search of some of these wandering spirits.

There are several known ghosts to haunt the fort. A Musketeer died when the fort came under attack in 1667, and he proceeded to petrify his colleagues by returning after his death. He has since been spotted walking through the mist coming in from the sea. You could also see the ghost of a woman who went insane after her husband was brutally killed by a firing squad in 1757. She committed suicide in the fort, and her image is still seen in the grounds. Recently, a lot of paranormal activity has been reported, with sounds of marching being heard coming towards the fort, reports of people being pushed and apparitions of a figure tumbling from battlements. So if you’re tempted to visit this haunted hide out, better make sure your UK travel insurance will cover any injury you might incur.

The Tombs of the London South Bridge

There’s no getting around it – this event is absolutely terrifying. Under South Bridge, lies the old plague pits of the 14th century, were bodies were thrown in their hundreds. Described as one of the places with the largest amount of paranormal activity that has ever been encountered, and joining a team of experienced mediums and paranormal investigators, you will have the greatest chance of encountering a ghost.

The event is so scary, that the website advises people to be prepared for absolutely anything before they book, and warn that the event is not for the faint hearted. So book if you dare. You have been warned.
