You can use either fresh or ground ginger and use it on tea or just chew it up.
Apple cider vinegar is also a good remedy. It is widely used and works as fast as baking soda. You just need to take a teaspoon or two. To keep it from burning on the way down, you can use honey. You can also use peppermint or chamomile tea. Chamomile prevents heartburn and for a person, who uses it for them to relax before bedtime, also alleviates heartburn. With peppermint tea be careful because it can create more acid. To stop heartburn you can also use pineapples, celery, lemon juice, almonds, yogurt, pickle juice and chewing gum. When you chew gum, a lot of saliva is produced and it acts as an acid buffer. This will help to stop heartburns.
