Birthday parties are always memorable for children and they are such fun! Kids love birthday parties and what they offer- from lolly bags, to cake, to face paint, to jumping castles, to pony rides, to theme parks! Although, your child's birthday party doesn't have to be quite so decadent. Here are a few simple steps to follow that ensure your child will have a memorable birthday party for both of you!
1. Choose a theme.
Choose your childs favourite celebrity of the moment, or a couple of their favourite colours. For example, your child's favourite colours are pink and purple. Tell all the party guests to dress in these colours, have pink and purple balloons, streamers and other decorations, find or make the best pink and purple birthday cake you possibly can. Even involve the party activities in these colours, allow the guests to decorate cup cakes with pink and purple icing and lollies, make princess tiaras with pink and purple textas, crepe paper and jewels. Theme the party food also! Use food colouring to dye lemonade or cordial or even dye white chocolate pieces to match!
2. Choose and plan the activities.
Choose a few activities prior to the party that you know all the children can join in and enjoy. Make sure these activities can cross both genders and all ages, because you want everyone at the party to have lots of fun! For example, you could play the chocolate game! This game requires a big block of chocolate, a plate, a knife and fork, some dress ups and some dice. Gather a large circle of people together and place the block of chocolate on the plate with the knife and fork in the middle of them. Place the dress ups near by also. Pass the dice around to each of the guests and ask them to roll. When somebody rolls a double 'six' tell them to put on all the dress ups one by one and start cutting into the chocolate with a knife and fork piece by piece. See how much they can eat before somebody else rolls a double 'six'! When they do, they must take the dress ups off the other person and start eating the chocolate too. Keep this going until the chocolate has all been eaten! There is no real winner or loser of this game, rather it just encourages good, healthy fun which is a great message for kids.
3. Music
Choose some appropriate music to add ambience to your child's birthday party. You could choose your child's favourite singer or band or some other good music to choose would be Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber. Even some old eighties rock bands would be fun like ACDC or even ABBA. Be sure to get all of your guests dancing. You could even theme some games to the music like musical chairs!
4. Photos
Be sure to have a photographer for the day! This could be anyone, even the kids could enjoy taking photos of their friends. Photos ensure lasting memories for your child so make sure you capture every important moment. Store these photos in a special album to enjoy looking back on the memories with your child and compare them to their other birthdays- watch how much they've grown!
Your child is bound to have a fabulous party! These are just a few tips to help you plan. Be sure not to get too stressed out, just have fun!
