Poison food scares may have been the turning point in pet owners taking more notice of what is in the ingredients of the products they feed their animals. Natural dog food has become a new way of providing the nutrients they need, and the results have proved to be rather surprising. Let's take a look at some of consequences of feeding chemically treated foods to your pets.

In their natural habitat, dogs are like wolves and coyotes, and mostly eat high protein meats. What carbohydrates they eat are inside the prey they hunt, and other than eating some types of grasses for the chlorophyll content, they rarely eat vegetables. However, domesticated dogs eat vegetables which are high in protein, and because their owners seem to enjoy them.

Diseases have been linked to human foods, and the buying public stopped purchasing those items. Certain cancers were associated with chemicals used in human food, and time has shown that these same chemicals caused an increase in tumors and other cancers in animals. Changing to untreated feeds has shown a decrease in these ailments.

Dog trainers and professional breeders were faced with a period of time where hip displacement seemed to be a matter of tight blood lines which were considered a birth defect. When these people started feeding natural dog foods this condition occurred less often.

Dogs can be allergic to certain foods and chemicals, just like human beings. Itchy paws, constant licking of "hot spots", and pronounced coughing and sneezing are experienced by canines who are suffering from a food allergy. Most of these reactions are directly linked to the chemical found in their foods. Changing to a product that is all natural may completely eliminate these allergic reactions.

People may have experienced a situation where a doggie wets the floor when someone reaches out to pet it. This bladder incontinence may not be at all related to the personality of the dog, or it giving into a submissive behavior. Bowel and bladder incontinence have been directly linked to the chemicals found in pet foods.

Although raw foods can have preservatives painted on them to keep them looking fresh, that practice has almost been eliminated by manufacturers due to the revelation of research indicating the harmful side effects. Such products used for eye appeal have little to do with what the dog thinks is an appetizing meal. Untreated foods have become the better choice for pet diets by an increasingly larger number of pet owners.

When that moment of everlasting bond occurred, and your new canine buddy chose you to be its new friend for life, it also turned over its trust and confidence into your hands, to provide it with proper medical care and a healthy diet. Natural dog food offers an opportunity to give your companion the best that life has to offer, and help to ensure a long and happy life together as best friends.
