When you’re teaching a class, you might not realize that all of your music instruction is adding up to problems for your students. Some students are actually simply downloading music for hours at a time, not even thinking about what they are downloading and what it means for their computers. If you’re a teacher for a computer education class, it’s time to think about how you can instruct your students to be wiser about what they put on their computers and what they are doing to their hard drives. After all, what kind of teacher would you be if you didn’t let them know how to delete iTunes duplicates?

Starting the Lecture on mp3 Responsibility

You might want to start your talk about how to delete iTunes duplicates by getting each student to bring in a list of all of the songs they own right now. This will be easy for them to print off of their iTunes account. Once they have this list in their hand, have the student highlight all of the tunes they realize are duplicates of others. What does this show them? For many students, this will be eye opening as they might never look at the actual list of songs on their account, as they simply upload their music onto their music player. Have students count how many duplicates they find and then see which student has the most duplicates of anyone in the classroom.

Why They Should Delete iTunes Duplicates

One of the biggest reasons why students should delete iTunes duplicates is that they will make room for more music on their computer. It’s like a bookshelf of sorts. When you have too many books on your shelf, you might have troubles fitting more on comfortably. And when this happens, you will also have troubles finding the book you really need. But when you clear out the books that you don’t need, then you can easily find what you need and realize what you need to buy and what you don’t need to purchase again.

In addition, when they are storing duplicate files, they will probably end up buying the same songs again and again, wasting time and money in the process. No one wants to do that. By paring down one’s collection when you delete iTunes duplicates, this has a far more reduced chance of happening. While it still might happen, a student will end up saving money.

Making a Computer Happy

Computers just don’t like to have excessive files as there is only so much room a hard drive has. The hard drive needs to have a little excess space in order to help it run more efficiently and start programs more rapidly. In fact, it’s a good idea to do spring cleaning on your computer ever so often to help keep things neat and orderly.

Students need to delete iTunes duplicates as they want to have more room for other songs besides the ones they already own and listen to again and again.
