Air beds can be a great way to sleep soundly when your out camping or having fun in the outdoors. There's nothing like having a great time out camping with your friends and family, but not being able to fall asleep at night because of the rocky and uneven terrain! Trust me, I've been there, and end up waking up throughout the night and have a kink in my back the next morning. There's no reason this needs to happen, I just needed to purchase a good high quality air bed.
Air beds come in different shapes and sizes. They're not all created equal, unlike what a lot of people assume. There's twin sized ones, queen sizes and even king sizes if you look hard enough! There are some that are close to the ground, some that are way above the ground, and some even higher than a normal box spring mattress! The higher quality ones tend to be the most comfortable, and a lot of people claim that their high quality air bed is much more comfortable than their normal mattress! I'm in this boat. I've been using an air bed for about 2 years now instead of a normal mattress and have no complaints.
As long as you get a high quality air bed, you're good to go. The cheaper ones tend to not hold their air for very long and are prone to leaking. Once it starts leaking, there's nothing you can do. You'll start waking up in the morning or middle of the night with a halfway deflated mattress, that's no good! The higher quality ones are much more comfortable anyway, and most of them are able to adjust the firmness settings to your liking. That's one of the best features that I like, since I really like my air beds or mattresses to be very firm. I usually inflate them up to the max, and have them firmer than most normal mattresses can get. Best of all it will stay this way for a long time if you get the high quality versions.
When you're out camping with your air bed, make sure you either bring an adapter for your car for those air beds that use only AC power plug ins. There are car adapters that you can purchase that will turn your cigarette light into a power outlet. Perfect for these kinds of occasions. Other than that you can also get an air bed that uses battery power in order to inflate, but make sure that the batteries are well charged before heading out into the middle of the woods! I learned that the hard way and had to backtrack all the way into the nearest town to purchase a pack of new batteries.
Overall air beds can be a great way to enjoy your camping or hunting trips with the family without busting your back or waking up with a kink in the neck! It's a great hassle free way to get a good night's sleep.
