It is a common knowledge that reality shows take the entire television watching population by storm. With the adventure, travel, drama, comedy and other interesting elements being featured in reality shows, there is no question why they have become the hit in the recent times.

1. Although reality shows allow so much open space and is considered as a free flowing format, these programs also need a structure that gives shape to the whole show.
2. All of the concepts in the reality show come from a producer. All of the participants and contestants underwent some process so that they can join the contest. Some have auditioned while others were handpicked.
3. The footage may be real, pure and unadulterated but in some cases, what is shown to the viewing audience is the edited version.
4. In general, reality shows do not have scripts to follow. However, there is a shooting script - an outline that discusses aspects of the show in details.
5. In some extreme cases, a shooting script can be further developed and may include a storyboard. A storyboard is a visual representation of the concept of a show which will physically illustrate what will take place in a scene.
6. Producers and the broadcast network have full control over the happenings in the show. They put people together in the show and filter what gets through the viewers and what does not. 7. Reality shows, more often than not, become stepping stones for celebrity wanna be's. Right after the competition, those who are star materials can say hello to a lucrative show business life. The reality show does not have popular movie actors and actresses from the Hollywood. However, they create them and those discoveries add up to the glamorous list of stars the fans adore.
8. Reality shows are incredibly cheap to produce. But with the striking drama, adventure, travel and comedy it features, no wonder reality shows have a greater return on investment compared to the scripted and high budgeted television shows. Consequently, it leaves little room for wonder why broadcast networks alongside the producers are so hyped about producing a bunch of them.
9. Reality shows most often than not bring together different people coming from different background, social stratum and walk of life. The variation adds flavor to the reality show and their differences usually make or break their bond. Moreover, their differences become the starting point of the conflicts at one point, or attraction or friendship at another.
