The challenge for portrait painters is pleasing the beholder as well as being able to fix a typical posture on a canvas as well as other details that capture the subject and brings it to life even if it needs the use of the tiniest brush strokes. Satisfied customers have mentioned how a female portraitist is well able to bring her subjects to life. This is even if his portfolio consists of faces which are not human ones but sensitive, moody, aristocratic, happy, relaxed, and alert.

The artist specializes in portraits of animals, especially horses, dogs and cats, although she says she would like to try painting any kind of animal. The artist is tall and slender and works in the studio in her home located in the Maplewood section of the borough. She has always loved animals, and so about five years ago she thought why not put the two together.

She has a new project involving a horse running across a field because she now paints the entire animal unlike in the past when she only painted the animals' heads. Interesting compositions is what they make according to her as she has created two or more even if the typical portrait is of a single animal. She gains customers after they learn of what she does from her other clients and they ask her to paint more than one of their pets.

With three wolfhounds a woman commissioned a portrait for each one of them. Differences exist here just as they do with people. She makes it a point to bring her camera, portfolio, and business cards to dog and horse shows. Taking animal portraiture into consideration, here is where you have a model that will not be willing to hold still and pose for you so a knowledgeable use of a camera is essential. What she uses for the portraits are the pictures she takes of her subjects usually using one or two rolls of film. In a way to see the true color of its coat and to perceive its character, she finds it important that time is spent with the animal and it is handled if possible.

The relationship that exists between the animal and its owner is also something she needs to see. She makes use of her view of the animal and theirs and tries to capture it as closely as possible. When it comes to portraits, it is important to present the correct conformation of the animal and a key feature that conveys the personality of the animal is the expression in the eyes.

Considering show animals, conformation is important. Aside from being familiar with a lot of animals you should also know what kind of conformation is correct. You can say that there is much satisfaction when it comes to animal portraiture. So pleased was he at the unveiling that he could not stop chuckling and shaking his head.

What people do is commission portraits of their own beloved pets or order them so that they could gift them to other animal lovers. What the portraits serve to become after the animal has died is to be kept as a special keepsake as experts say. From photographs, an artist can create a portrait considering that they are good enough to use and she has been able to paint a portrait of a deceased pet.

Her works utilize pencil, pastels, and oils. Usually she works on only one project at a time. When put under pressure, an artist is not able to work well and so she refrains from giving time frames. She limits the portraits she does to one or two a month. During the weekends, she takes a break from painting even if she does try to paint everyday and she knows how exhausting painting can be for the painter and this is why she takes a break after finishing each piece.
