Darts is an exciting and athletic pursuit, whether you're embarrassing yourself with friends at a pub or schooling family on game night. No matter what the reason you play, you would not be here if you didn't want to play better. Here are a few simple tricks to improving your darts throwing skills and striking that bullseye more than ever before.

Relax a bit! The first tip is to let yourself get loosened up as you aim at the board. You don't want your knuckles turning white or sweat pooling up on your forehead. First and foremost, darts is just a game, and unless you've made a major bet on the outcome of your next throw, there's no need to fret, and, if you've experienced wrist pain after a round of darts, your harsh darts grip is probably to blame.

Secondly, when it comes to gripping, use three fingers. The coordination of your hand is diminished when throwing with more than three fingers placed on the dart, but with less than three wrapped around it you will not be able to throw with enough force to matter.

Next, make sure you take the correct position. Stand a few feet back from the board and take a right foot forward stance, setting your eyes on the dart, and setting the dart directly to the center of the board. It may seem difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it, it makes your throws a great deal more accurate and efficient.

Fourth on the pro darting throwing cheat sheet: throw with your arm. And just your arm-no frantic fingers or hands. Ideally, you should be leading the throw from your elbow and creating a smooth, flowing motion as you straighten the elbow. No jerky or sporadic movements in your hand, as this will just ensure you miss your throw.

Finally, properly align the rest of your body during the throw. With your right food leading and your arm poised to make the smooth shot, keep your hips leaning forward slight and distribute the majority of your weight to your leading foot.

Take these tips into account the next time you go for a game of darts and you're sure to nail quite a few shots.
