You can run but not hide from another onslaught of tweenage Bieber mania. If you live on another planet and have not already heard over the vast Intertube network under his command, Justin Bieberhas staked claim to Valentine Day's weekend at movie theaters around the world. Paramount Pictures is releasing a 3D Justin Bieber concert movie that will dominate the box office starting February 11, 2011 (Valentine's weekend). The "film" will feature some of his performances from this summer's concert tour.
Yes we will once again be subjected to an endless stream of tweet, twits and twats. And somehow it is in 3D. If you think Bieber mania has waned, think again. Walmart has been sold out of his new nail polish line. That's right, the many factories of China are not able make enough finger nail polish to meet the demand of Bieber's crazy fans.
Okay the obvious question is why? The second most clear query is why in 3D? How does Hollywood expect anyone to take 3d technology seriously if it used to make concert movies? How seriously can some one a technology featured prominently in the title of a Justin Bieber picture? Yogi Bear was in 3D too. This definitely makes 3D the latest laughing stock of the cinema.
Is this the biebepocalypse? Is it the end of the world as we know it? As any one in the generation old enough to shout "Get off my Lawn!" is able to tell you,, Bieber is not the first over hyped teen pop sensation, and he will not be the last. Actually compared to the many talentless hack out there raking in millions of dollars he can actually play a few musical instruments. As Bill Murray might say "he has that going for him".
The teen pop sensation cycle runs every five to seven years. Because of the incredible pressure of modern day stardom and the realization that your fanbase's musical tastes have out grown you, the end seems to be always on the horizon. But does that mean Justin will be gone even after he hits puberty and has a long record of sad mishaps.
Annoying pop stars have a way of making comeback after comeback since they are guaranteed airplay because of their "where are they now?" curiosity factor. The 3D biopic film of fifteen year-old Justin Bieber is yet another of the numerous ironic, irritating phenomena marking our instant news starved pop culture.
